About Me

Do you have pictures of years past from Lee, some of the customs or celebrations that were part of your years at Lee?  Do you have you graduation invitation or the program from the ceremony that you can scan and we can include on this page?  Perhaps a picture of your car decorated, ready to go to the football game.  Pictures you took of Lee going to state in sports.  Share them with everyone.

Lee Wins State Championship

In 1967, Lee won state in basketball.  Here is a picture of the trophy and Stephen Niles and Zane Schullanberger accepting the trophy.  What a heady moment that was.  Were you there, share your story with us?

Graduation Ceremony

I am working on a history page for Robert E Lee High School.  To do this I need your help. Right now I have two projects going the Stratford Ball and Graduation.

The Stratford Ball Project is to find out where each class held their ball and to obtain photos of the court from the high school yearbooks.  As of now I have pictures from the following years:  1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1974, 1975, 1976 and 1991.  If you have a yearbook and scanner and have the time to scan these pages, it would be wonderful.

The Graduation Project is to find out the where the ceremony took place and the number of graduates.  I have posted a file online so everyone can see that information.  Click here, to go to that web page.  This is a pdf document and they sometimes take longer to open than a regular web page.  If you can provide any of the missing information, click here to fill in form with the information.

Thinking ahead, I would also like to put pictures of things that have changed thru the years such as sports uniforms, the mad rebel, cheerleader outfits, Lee-ette uniforms, the Dance Teams, ROTC, etc.  I think this will be an ongoing project until the end of time.  Do you want to hang around for the end of it?  Me, too.

Game of the Century

The football game played at Alamo Stadium in 1963 between Lee and Brackenridge will forever live on in history.  Recently, in the September issue of the SA Monthly Magazine, there was an article published about this game.  The story was written by Randy Lankford and he has given me permission to put the article from the magazine on the website.  This document is protected by copyright laws and has been used with Randy Lankford’s permission.  Click here to read the article.  There are still September issues available.  Contact the publisher for information at 210-828-4209 to request your copy.  For more information on the SA Monthly Magazine, click here to visit their blogspot.

I was one of the lucky ones.  I was a sophomore in the Lee-ettes so I was in the stands cheering Lee on.  What a game!

Farewell Rebel Flag

Last Day the rebel flag flew at Lee, click on picture for larger view

The picture above was taken on May 24, 1991 at Robert E Lee High School. It was the last day that the Rebel Flag flew at Lee High School.  Jason Youngblood, Class of 1991, was there on that day and was kind enough to send me the picture and also scan the newspaper articles that ran in the Express News and the San Antonio Light.  I have uploaded the files to the website. I would like to thank Jason for emailing me this information.  For many of us, we did not really know what happened, especially those living out of the area.  To read the complete article and see the newspaper clippings, click here.

This website has been created to reunite old friends and bring back good memories.  In my years at Lee we had very strong school spirit and were proud to be at Lee.  If you see a rebel flag on this website it was the school spirit for a lot of classes and not as any other meaning.  This site is not intended to cause pain and suffering or emotional distress.  It is not intended to make one feel old, even though some of us are older than dirt.  (Better than the alternative)
